About
Blanketing Arizona is a grass-roots organization…
OK, we’re not even really an organization, we’re a group of friends and family who find ourselves very fortunate and want to come together to bring some warmth and cheer to people who need it at the holidays! In 2007 and 2008, we setup camp at about 7th St. and Roosevelt in downtown Phoenix, and had at least 500 individual people and families come down, to get new blankets, hats and have a bowl of chili.
It has been an amazing experience and in the last two years we have given out more than 1600 blankets and 60 gallons of chili, not to mention all of the homemade pastries, cookies and gift bags that all of our generous volunteers donated. Overall it has been a huge success. The organizers were afraid at the outset that no one would come and we’d have a ton of blankets left over. Needless to say, that was not the case and most of the volunteers said it was the best Christmas ever because they were able to help so many people.
You know that this year has been harder on America than the last and there are many more people living on the streets. Arizona attracts a good number of homeless families due to its relatively temperate climate and we expect even more people this year. Won’t you help? Click here to find out how you can help!
